Vet
Dr Queisha
Originally born and raised in Cairns, I recently graduated from James Cook University and have taken up the new grad role here at my favourite clinic. According to my parents, I have wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of 5 and so I did everything I could to make that dream my reality (alongside being a pretty ballerina for almost a decade, another dream 5-year-old me was invested in).
During high school I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme which allowed me the opportunity to study Psychology as a subject in my senior years. This sparked my interest in all thing’s behaviour and psychology in people and animals – moreover, it gave me a new appreciation for the deeply rooted human-animal bond we share without beloved pets.
Though I did not grow up with a myriad of animals like others in this industry, my family was fond (obsessed) with dachshunds, and so there was one sausage dog for each of my siblings and myself. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I rescued my breed-ambiguous son, Kenai, who has become my most prized accomplishment since starting my veterinary career.
When I am not at work, I am typically at home reading fiction books, watching TV and movies, painting by candlelight, or just in bed having a good midday snooze with my pup.
